POD: World’s Longest Hula Line on Waikiki Beach

Thousands of Hula dancers from around the world lined along Waikiki Beach as part of the 2007 Aloha Festival on Oahu. The event just wrapped up a few minutes ago and hopes to break their 1996 record for the Largest Hula Dance in the Guiness Book of World Records.

Saturday, September 22, 2007 4:00 PMThis event first occurred in 1996 for the Largest Hula Dance” at 3,500 and was inlcuded in the Guinness Book of World Records commemorating the Aloha Festivals 50th anniversary. This year, Aloha Festivals introduces this event once again to gain entry into the Guinness Book with a goal of 5,500 dancers from all over the world dancing to Andy Cumming’s “Waikiki” and Kimo Alama Keaulana’s rendition of “Aloha Week Hula” written by Jack Pitman as part of the annual Aloha Week song contest and since declared the official song of Aloha Week for perpetuity.
