A Taste Of Kalihi 2008 Highlights

What’s Cookin’ At Kalihi
After a successful debut last year, the 2nd Annual A Taste of Kalihi was back and bigger than ever. The event featured food booths, entertainment, keiki rides and inflatables, community & sponsor booths and the Electric Slide Challenge, in which over 1,100 people danced to the Electric Slide, breaking last year’s record of 800.
New this year was A Taste Of Kalihi’s Cook Off. It featured Celebrity Chefs competing against each other in preparing a dish using an ingredient kept secret until it was time to cook. Winners were selected by five judges from the audience.

A Block Party. Kalihi Style.
The event took place on Colburn Street (between Waiakamilo and McNeil) across from the Dillingham Shopping Plaza from 10 am to 8 pm. Entertainment included the Royal Hawaiian Band, Lion Dance, Cheer808, unique Style Breakers, Ten Feet, Kapalama Elementary Chorus and more.

Here’s a product you might want to try in your favorite dish. It’s Pure Crab Fat (Taba Ng Talangka), just one taste and you’ll be in Claude’9.
