This Ain’t No Lipstick On A Pig
PowerShot View: Opah (Lampris guttatus) or Hawaiian Moonfish
The photo of the Opah or Hawaiian Moonfish was taken earlier today at The Third Annual Hawaii Fishing & Seafood Festival on October 12, 2008 at Pier 38.
A rich, creamy moonfish is served both as a raw appetizer as well as baked. Hawaiians consider opah to be a good luck fish, and often used to give it away as a gesture of goodwill, rather than sell it. ~Hawaii Food Glossary~
Highlights of the Fishing & Seafood Festival will be posted later this week. So stay tuned.
