Hawaii Quarters Begin Circulation Next Month

Hawaii State Quarter
The U.S. Mint’s popular 10-year state quarter program, commemorating the 50 states, is ending with a big “Aloha” with the circulation of the Hawaii State Quarter, next month on November 3, 2008.
The Hawaii coin features King Kamehameha I, the eight major Hawaiian Islands (Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, Maui, and Hawaii), the year Hawaii was admitted to the Union and the state motto, “Ua Mau Ke Ea O Ka Aina I Ka Pono” (“The Life of the Land is Perpetuated in Righteousness”).
About 520 million Hawaii quarters are expected to be produced by the U.S. Mint in Denver.
