Preparations are underway at Iolani Palace for King David Kalakaua’s Birthday Celebration on Sunday, November 16, 2008. This FREE event starts around noon, so get there early.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION FOR KING KALAKAUA AT IOLANI PALACE
The Friends of Iolani Palace and the Royal Guard of the Hawaii Air National Guard will commemorate King Kalakaua’s birthday on Sunday, November 16, 2008 at Iolani Palace. The Palace will be decorated with red, white and blue bunting and numerous Hawaiian flags reminiscent of Palace decorations used during King Kalakaua’s Birthday Jubilee in 1886.
The public is invited to enjoy a free concert of Monarchy era music performed by the Royal Hawaiian Band; a review of the Royal Guard at the front of the steps of the Palace; and the posting of the Royal Guard at the four main Palace gateways. ~Source: GoHawaii.com~
