Iolani Barracks: Halekoa - House Of Warriors

A Medieval-like Castle In Downtown Honolulu
The Iolani Barracks was built in 1870 and was the headquarters of the Royal Household Guards during the reign of Kamehameha V until the overthrow of the Monarchy in 1893.
The coral block structure was designed by German Theodore C. Heuck and was originally built where the State Capital building now stands. In 1965, the building was dismantled and moved block by block, and reconstructed at its present location.

The Tour Starts Here
Today, the Iolani Barracks serves as a visitor center for the Iolani Palace, It is the first stop to get tickets for the Iolani Palace tour, it also has a gift shop, video theater and membership office.
The Palace Gift Shop is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
