Iolani Barracks: Halekoa - House Of Warriors

A Medieval-like Castle In Downtown Honolulu

The Iolani Barracks was built in 1870 and was the headquarters of the Royal Household Guards during the reign of Kamehameha V until the overthrow of the Monarchy in 1893.

The coral block structure was designed by German Theodore C. Heuck and was originally built where the State Capital building now stands. In 1965, the building was dismantled and moved block by block, and reconstructed at its present location.
