All Dressed Up For Work - Just Joking
Forget going to work in business attire, workers in Downtown Honolulu got dressed up in their favorite characters on Halloween Day.
At Tamarind Park (Bishop Square), American Savings Bank presented their SPOOKTACULAR Halloween Costume Contest during lunch hour. Participants entering the contest were judged in two catagories - “most scariest costume” and “most creative costume” - and the first place winner in each catagory won a Family 4-Pack (tickets) to go see Cirque du Soleil’s Saltimbanco show.

You Hungry?
Yesterday (Halloween Day), I decided to get lunch from a lunch wagon called “You Hungry?”. I ordered the garlic chicken plate ($5.75) and it came with brown rice and toss greens. The garlic chicken (sprinkled with goma (seasame seeds) and green onions) was so “garlic-ky”, it’ll scare of any blood-sucking vampires away.

Word Up!
Over the weekend (Saturday, October 25), I attended the first-ever unconference, Hawaii PodCamp + WordCamp at the Hawaii Convention Center. Hundreds of attendees enjoyed presentations from many guest speakers at various tracks including WordCamp, Podcast 101, Social Media and Business Use.
The highlight of WordCamp featured Matt Mullenweg, founding developer of the popular blogging software - WordPress. Matt gave a wonderful presentation about WordPress (WordPress.org and WordPress.com) and also, showed off the new features of WordPress 2.7, which should be out sometime in November (this year).

Just back from a beach BBQ at Ala Moana Beach, after spending the whole day at PodCamp Hawaii 2008 at the Hawaii Convention Center. I’ll have more maybe tomorrow or later this week.
Photo above, Matt Mullenweg, founding developer of WordPress, was one of the guest speakers at WordCamp. That’s right, this website is running under the WordPress platform. Mahalo, Matt!
Oh yeah, that lady in the bottom left corner is no other than Lorelle VanFossen of Lorelle on WordPress. Thank you for the Woopra invite. Mahalo!

The Ramen That Will Bowl You Over
Craving for some Japanese ramen? Better head over to Tenkaippin Ramen on Kapahulu Avenue for the best ramen in town.
I had a chance to go there a few weeks ago, and the first thing I was dying to try was the famous Kotteri Ramen (I ordered the set with the 3-piece gyozas). This ain’t your ordinary ramen, this intense chicken-flavored soup (broth) is thick (gravy-like) or creamy and it’s so full of collagen, you’ll be walking out of the shop looking many years younger….well, almost.
